Bill Orisich is a filmmaker, artist, musician/sound designer with over 35 years of experience, He founded Whoa! Films in 1993 as a film/video production/post-production company offering a working environment for playful creative exploration and development. The Whoa! facility is a creative clubhouse with a mix of old and new school stuff-including the latest camera and edit gear. Whoa! brings together teams of some of the most talented people in the business. To keep it amusing, the place is surrounded with analog antidotes (catalysts) to all the digital stuff-there’s a climbing wall, live music room, ping-pong table, balance boards, unicycles and a XL pogo stick to help stay focused and energized. The environment reflects Bill’s casually intense style and good humor. His passionate commitment is evident in each project. The Whoa! team goes over and beyond what is expected defying conventions in pursuit of a vision.
Bill's work emphasizes the process and journey of discovery. Chance, improvisation, collaboration and exploration guide the work to an unforeseen conclusions. The surprises, depth and clarity along the creative path develop a much stronger and layered work than its original intent. Bill responds to image-making, editing and sound design as a sculptor does to his raw materials - selecting, carving, chipping away and form ultimately taking shape.
Whoa! projects range from multi-channel art installations, commercials, to all types of corporate, educational, non-profit, and web video. Bill enjoys the mix of all styles and approaches each project as a unique challenge. Bill's recent video art installations have expanded into immersive environments that envelop the viewer in image, sound and performance, collaborating with a diverse group of artists.
